The GE 3S-RS is a wide-band phased array probe that has the lowest bandwidth at 1.7-4 MHz, and therefore can scan the deepest. For reference, ultrasound probe bandwidth can be compared to golf – the further you want to hit, the lower the number of golf club you use. On the other hand, the more accurate you need to be, the higher number of golf club you want to use. For example, for distance, you’d use a 2 Iron versus a 9 Iron. This probe is used for abdominal scans, adult and pediatric cardiac exams, OB/GYN exams, and thoracic/pleural exams.
